In addition to the usual Public Night this Saturday visitors could also learn about HAM radio operation. The Blackstone Valley Amateur Club (BVARC) was given permission to conduct there annual Field Day event on the obsetvatory grounds over the weekend.
In spite of cloudy skies glimpses of the waxing gibbous moon could be seen with the Alvan Clark refractor, and several deep sky objects with the Meade 16 inch and Mark Munkacsy’s Seestar S50.
Unfortunately, there were no visitors for the evening. However, several of the HAM club members enjoyed looking through the telescopes. Likewise, the observatory crew learned a bit about HAM radio.
If anyone else would like to add their comments please do so.
